It is kind of an ironic justice that the U.S. wanted to keep the economic machine rolling instead of completely shutting down the country from the start when the COVID-19 news was beginning to reach us. Putting wealth over health will always be the wrong approach. Not listening to the experts will be the demise despite the few bad apples that may be the reason for the disruption and destruction.
The government realized the predicament of this dilemma, and later rather than sooner shut down the country by suspending flights, and implementing rules and protocols for people to follow because we were not prepared for a pandemic and perhaps any type of national/global emergency. Should we prepare for catastrophes? I don’t have the answers. What I do know is we have become a reactionary society instead of one that is prepared to mitigate potential risks.
